UGREEN CM472 2.5/3.5-Inch SATA HDD/SSD Enclosure (30729)
The UGREEN CM472 2.5/3.5-Inch SATA HDD/SSD Enclosure (30729) is a practical external storage enclosure designed for users who want to turn an internal SATA hard drive or SSD into an external USB storage device. Current product listings identify 30729 as model CM472, supporting both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA HDD/SSD drives, USB 3.0 transfer speeds up to 5Gbps, external 12V/2A power, and large-capacity drives up to 18TB.
This makes it suitable for desktop hard drives, backup drives, archived data, large media collections, CCTV footage storage, office data backup, and recovering files from old SATA drives.
Supports 2.5-Inch and 3.5-Inch SATA Drives
The UGREEN CM472 supports both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA HDD/SSD drives, making it more versatile than compact enclosures designed only for laptop-size drives.
It can be used with:
-
2.5-inch SATA SSD
-
2.5-inch SATA HDD
-
3.5-inch desktop SATA HDD
-
High-capacity archive drives
-
Backup hard drives
-
Old internal drives being repurposed as external storage
Up to 5Gbps USB 3.0 Transfer
The CM472 supports USB 3.0 transfer speeds up to 5Gbps.
This provides faster file transfers than USB 2.0 when used with a compatible USB 3.0 port and drive.
Actual speed depends on the installed HDD/SSD, host computer, file type, and USB interface.
UASP & TRIM Support
The enclosure is listed with UASP and TRIM support, helping improve drive performance and storage management when supported by the installed SSD, computer, and operating system.
UASP can improve transfer efficiency compared with older USB mass-storage protocols, while TRIM support can help maintain SSD performance over time.
Up to 18TB Drive Capacity
Current listings for the UGREEN CM472 30729 show support for hard drives up to 18TB.
This makes the enclosure especially useful for users who need large external storage for:
-
Video collections
-
Office backups
-
CCTV recordings
-
Photo archives
-
Media servers
-
Project backups
-
Large personal data libraries
External 12V/2A Power Supply
Because 3.5-inch desktop hard drives require more power than a standard USB port can provide, the UGREEN CM472 uses an external 12V/2A power adapter.
This gives the enclosure enough dedicated power to operate compatible desktop HDDs reliably.
USB-A Host Connection
The product is commonly supplied with a 1-meter USB-A host cable, allowing it to connect to standard desktop and laptop USB ports.
The exact connector configuration on the enclosure side should be confirmed against your physical stock before publishing package details.
PC + ABS Housing
The UGREEN CM472 uses a PC + ABS enclosure body, providing a lightweight and durable housing for the installed drive.
The enclosure protects the internal SATA drive from everyday dust, accidental contact, and handling damage.
Suitable for HDD Backup and Data Recovery
The CM472 is especially useful when users have an old internal desktop or laptop drive and want to access its contents without installing it inside a computer.
Typical uses include:
-
Recovering files from an old computer
-
Creating an external backup drive
-
Using an old HDD as portable storage
-
Copying data between computers
-
Building a large-capacity external archive
Universal Storage Solution
Because it supports both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA drives, the CM472 can be a convenient solution for home users, technicians, offices, photographers, and service centers.
Your existing Gadget & Tech enclosure category also currently lists product 30729 as a USB 3.0 hard-drive adapter/enclosure with 5Gbps, UASP, protection, and tool-free installation, which matches the intended use of this product.
